Letter: Where was Lac Simon Ambulance?

The Honorable Stockwell Day

RE: Lac-Simon ambulance service

Minister Stockwell Day,

On a July evening a resident of Lac Simon, Glen Rossy required an ambulance. It took 10 minutes. Perfect.

On an August evening another resident of Lac-Simon needed an ambulance. In comparison, it took 1 1/2 hours for ambulance technicians to arrive with a backboard to transport Robert David to a hospital.

A question persists in my mind: as the injured lay wet, shivering on a dock into the evening with a broken back and a concussion, where was our excellent ambulance service?

I submit that perhaps the Montebello summit was the deciding factor in the grave delay on August 20th.

The question remains: With approximately 3000 police officers converging on Montebello for the summit and over $1 million spent for the fence alone, could not resources have been guaranteed to protect the health of the everyday residents of the region of La Petite Nation.

This type of delay and infringement on our "health & security rights" must never happen again.

Looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Paul Malouf
